Anti Ragging Cell

 

Anti-Ragging Cell is one of the most important parts of a Higher Educational Institution. It plays a vital role on behalf of college administration to maintain the peace and harmony among the students. As per the guidelines of UGC under the Act of 1956, which is modified as UGC regulations on curbing the menace of Ragging in higher Educational Institutions, 2009, the Anti-Ragging Cell of our college was established on 17-09-2015. This Cell is still functional with a sub-committee under the leadership of our Principal Dr Manishankar Roy. Along with honourable Principal, Teachers’ Council Secretary, one member from Governing Body, and 5 teacher member, 2 Non-teaching member and Two senior students of current batch are the member of this Sub-committee. All members are actively take efforts to maintain the calm and quiet environment in the college campus.


Ragging inside the College Campus means:

As per the order of Supreme Court of India and subsequent Notification from University Grants Commission (UGC), ragging constitutes one or more of any intention by any student or group of students on:

  • Any act of Indiscipline, Teasing or Handling with Rudeness.
  • Any act that Prevents, Disrupts the Regular Academic Activity.
  • Any activity which is likely to cause Annoyance, hardship, Psychological Harm or creates Fear or Apprehension.
  • Any Act of Financial Extortion or Forceful Expenditure.
  • Any Act of Physical Abuse causing Assault, Harm or danger to Health.
  • Any Act of abuse by spoken words, emails, SMS or public insult etc.
  • Any Act of injury or infringement of the fundamental right to the human dignity.
  • Any Act of Wrongful Confinement, Kidnapping, molesting or committing unnatural offences, use of criminal forces, trespass or intimidation.
  • Any unlawful assembly or conspiracy to ragging. 

Role of the Anti-Ragging Committee:

  • Main Objective of the committee is to make our college a RAGGING FREE CAMPUS.
  • Awareness program on the day of orientation of freshers.
  • Generating the sensitization among students through Postering.
  • The poster clearly depicts that the authority follows a zero-tolerance principle for any sort of allegation under Ragging.

Punishment Policy to those who found guilty

  • Suspension from the college.
  • Cancellation of the admission.
  • Cancellation of scholarships and other benefits.
  • Withholding the results.
  • Suspension from attending classes.
  • Debarring from appearing in the University Examination.
  • Rustication from the institution for a period from one to four semesters.
  • Functions of Committee
  • To consider the complaints received from the students and conduct enquiry and submit report to the Anti- Ragging Committee along with punishment recommended for the offenders
  • Oversee the procedure of obtaining undertaking from the students in accordance with the provisions.
  • Conduct workshops against ragging menace and orient the students.
  • To provide students the information pertaining to contact address and telephone numbers of the person(s) identified to receive complaints/distress calls.
  • To create awareness among the students about Anti ragging.
  • To take all necessary measures for prevention of Ragging inside the Campus/ Hostels.

 How to lodge complain?

    Student can lodge complain through e-Mail or in written mode in the drop box near Principal’s Room.
