GLIMPSES OF RECENT EVENTS OF NSS UNIT
The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a public service program launched by the Government of India in 1969, commemorating the centenary birth year of Mahatma Gandhi. It is a voluntary organization aimed at fostering a sense of social responsibility, community service, and civic engagement among students. NSS operates under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and involves students from schools, colleges, and universities across the country.
The primary goal of NSS is to instill the values of selfless service, leadership, and unity in diversity among young individuals. Through its motto, Not Me, But You, NSS emphasizes the importance of prioritizing the welfare of others and contributing to the development of the community.
The program engages students in various activities, including health camps, environmental protection initiatives, literacy drives, disaster relief efforts, and rural development projects. By participating in NSS, students gain practical experience in addressing social challenges, nurturing their personal growth while making a meaningful impact on society.
The My Bharat Portal is an innovative digital initiative launched by the Government of India to empower and engage the youth in nation-building activities. It serves as a comprehensive platform connecting young individuals, organizations, and institutions with opportunities for community service, skill development, and social impact initiatives.
The portal is a part of the government's vision to harness the potential of the youth by providing them with a centralized platform to access resources, participate in volunteer activities, and contribute to various nation-building programs. It facilitates collaboration across sectors and encourages the spirit of self-reliance and civic responsibility among young citizens.
With features such as event registration, activity tracking, and resource sharing, the My Bharat Portal aims to foster a culture of social engagement, leadership, and skill enhancement. It aligns with the broader objective of creating a more inclusive, participatory, and progressive society.
NSS is a symbolic representation of the program's ideals and objectives. Designed to reflect the core values of selfless service and community development, the logo embodies the essence of the NSS motto, Not Me, But You.
The design of the logo is inspired by the giant wheel of the famous Konark Sun Temple In Odisha, symbolizing progress, energy, and the timeless spirit of service. The wheel represents the dynamic nature of life and the continuous movement towards a better and more inclusive society.
The 8 bars in the NSS logo represent the 24 hours of the day divided into 8 equal parts. These bars signify the continuous availability of NSS volunteers for community service, symbolizing their dedication to serving the nation and society round the clock.
This division emphasizes the idea that volunteers are always ready to devote their time and energy selflessly to address social challenges, promote welfare, and uplift communities. It highlights the value of time and the importance of consistent efforts in building a better and more inclusive society.
The NSS logo is not just a visual identity but also a reminder of the program's mission to inspire young individuals to lead purposeful lives, contribute to social welfare, and build a stronger nation. It serves as a unifying symbol, encouraging volunteers to embrace diversity, take pride in their responsibilities, and work collectively to address societal challenges. Through its design, the NSS logo captures the spirit of progress, unity, and service, resonating with the organization's vision of transforming the youth into active agents of change.
"Survival of the adaptable" is the truth for the social adaptability of an institution. The more it is in line with society, the more it is worth towards society.
